The Peace of God

This is a devotional I wrote a few months back and stumbled upon yesterday. I felt the need to share it with you all this morning.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

There is a different kind of peace we receive from God when we understand that even in the hardest of situations He is beside us. When we trust God with our heartaches, problems & brokenness He begins to reveal to us a wonderful mystery! Our peace is not in His response to our prayers. This verse does not say present your request to God and when He responds you will have peace. It says present your request to God, that’s it. The ability to come before the presence of God and pour out our hearts to Him is sufficient to fill our souls. It is sufficient to give us hope in the darkest of nights, regardless of what His response to our prayer may be.

When we learn that we do not fight our battles alone and our spirit can rest beneath the shadow of the Almighty, whether or not it pleases Him to answer our prayer request, we find true peace. And it’s not just any ordinary peace. It’s a peace that “transcends all understanding.” In other words, it’s a peace like no other, it’s a peace that overwhelms us, it’s a peace that isn’t dependent on our situations but on God’s faithfulness. The Bible says He makes all things work for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose, so then, as we choose to trust Him and walk according to His will, all things will work for good. ALL things.

May your day be graciously adventurous,

Tati
